Background During 89/90 he was engaged as actor at Skånska Teatern. After that he has been directing at Teaterkompaniet and done stage-design at Göteborgs Stadsteater. 1992 he was supported by the Swedish Arts Council to go to Japan to study Butoh. During 1993 he worked as director and stage-designer at the University of Gothenburg, dept of Acting. 1995 he made direction and stage-design at Teater Brand. 1997 he was engaged to do direction and stage-design at Sotenäs Teaterateljé. Sotenäs Teaterateljé is an experimental education for actors at the University of Gothenburg. 2000 he was directing TIDVLL with the well known Swedish choir AMANDA. The same year he made direction and stage-design for Teater Kurage and Teater Markatta. In 2001 the production with Markatta was adapted to a radio-performance for the Swedish National Radio and a CD, the CD was nominated to the Swedish GRAMMY award in 2002. In 2002 he has been directing two performances for GSO Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra - the Swedish National Orchestra. This year he has also done direction and set-design for HONUNGSBUTIKEN at Teater Kurage. Since 1995 Svante Grogarn has been regularly engaged as light-designer for dance-productions. In collaboration with choreographers as Julyen Hamilton and Steve Paxton he has designed light for site specific performances where the light-design has a prominent part with major elements of improvisation and co-creation. Svante Grogarn has been active as light-designer in Germany, Greece, France, Spain, Slovakia, Belgium, the Netherlands, the Czech republic, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Great Britain, Sweden. Together with Julyen Hamilton he is teaching workshops on improvisation and light. Svante Grogarn has a broad experience in teaching acting (Sweden, Finland, Poland, Denmark, Israel, the Faeroe Islands) and has been the leader of workshops under varying circumstances with participants from institutional theaters, universities, independent schools etc. Since 86 he has been annual guest-teacher/director at Nordiska Folkhögskolans dept for acting. Apart from strictly acting teaching he is also engaged to do movement-training at for example the Gothenburg University for Crafts and Design, the Gothenburg University of Music, Gothenburg University dept for Fine Arts, SYMBOLON - institute for training of pedagogues/therapists. He is also frequently engaged to work with choirs. During 99/00 he was on on behalf of Svensk Körsång conductor for a number of workshops on choral-singing including approx. 3000 choral-singer all over Sweden. |
